Sunrise to a beautiful day - SWEET!

Nothing like seeing a room full of guys in fellowship....

All shapes and sizes...come as you are.

Jim Colledge opened in prayer...yeah, he can be funny too sometimes!

Heather Piccone served up a feast.
As the guys say..."U da' MAN!" Sorry - WOman!

Jerry Gruszewski and Eric Shanaberger's raffle
"I feel like I'm in the circus!" Jerry said :-)

To summarize what I got out of Terry Pluto's sometimes hilarious exhortation:

  1. Encourage each other in a difficult world
  2. Be accountable in a small group of likeminded guys
  3. Pray with your wives every day
  4. Be in the Word

Pretty tactical stuff.

Now the business of consistency and faithfulness...

Joe encouraged the guys to come back on
Wednesday night or Friday morning for Mens Fraternity.

Kevin Gluntz the attorney morphed into Kevin Gluntz the book-seller!

And a good time was had by all!

See you Friday's at O' dark-thirty (6:00am)....

Guy Stuff at Hudson Chapel

By Mike Wise

Promise Keepers 2006

Hudson Chapel is once again sounding the call for Men to grab a buddy and make the annual trek to Promise Keepers. This year we will journey to Columbus and Nationwide Arena on July 14 and 15. We have arranged for free parking and 'lodging' right near the Arena. The cost for the whole thing is only $80 - the spiritual growth will be PRICELESS. More information can be found on the church Web site. So invite a friend and go! (PS. Wives, mom's, daughters - perhaps sign-up your husband, son, or father as a gift?!!? And then pray....) It’s never too late! More info: Mike Wise, 330-283-7286

Men’s Fraternity 2006/2007

Weather you are a Wednesday night’er or a Friday @ 6am guy, or a MF Wannabe, be sure to make a note to attend the Kick-off Breakfast on September 9th. Terry Pluto, sports writer for the Akron Beacon Journal, and a Christian guy active in prison ministry, we be launching us into a new season of fresh new content. Men’s Fraternity RULES!

First Community & First Serve

2006 saw the Kick-off or First Community and the continuation of First Serve. The LORD helped many men ‘get in the game’ through these efforts. For that, we give Him all the PRAISE! Now we just need to keep serving, keep saying “Yes” when asked, and keep reaching out to include our fellow brothers along the way.

Supporting Women’s and Children’s Ministries

Remember to come along side the Women and children of our church as they go about their ministry. Ladies Tea, the Christmas program, Sunday School classes, VBS, etc. You will find your cup overflowing with blessings from the LORD as you love ‘as Christ loved the church.”

Accountability Groups

There are many existing men’s accountability groups meeting on a weekly basis through out the community. When times are tough and it’s our turn in the barrel, our brothers in Christ are praying and supporting us. When we stumble and fall, they lift us up. When we do dumb things, they tell us we’re an idiot! And vice-versa! So if you want to get connected in accountability and support, pray about it and start asking around. The Lord will direct your path.

Proverbs 18:24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

The Invitation

Here are some writings by Dave Hess, HCC Member and Promise Keeper...Mike Wise

I stood on the fifth level at RFK Stadium on a beautiful Washington, DC evening looking down upon 52,000 men singing “Holy, Holy, Holy.” While I had grown accustomed to viewing sporting events from this venue, the sights and sounds of this evening were like nothing I had ever seen before and will be etched in my memory forever. Overcome by the intensity of this expression of worship, I looked into the heavens and asked God, “Where have I been for the past 20 years of my life?” It was May 26, 1995. On that evening I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ.

Since my first Promise Keepers event, everything changed in my personal and professional life. In addition to enriching the relationships with my wife and children, I reunited with my estranged father with whom I had not spoken to in over 20 years. All aspects of my life have been affected by God’s work, including bringing a Christian perspective to the business world. While life has not gotten any easier, it has gotten a lot better. I am no longer consumed by the trappings of power and prestige, but now have peace, joy, confidence, and great hope in things to come.

Had it not been for some men in my church who asked me to attend that milestone PK event, I fear what might have happened further down the path I was traveling. It was the prodding of these men and the prayers of my wife that enabled God to change my life. His blessings have extended well beyond me to my family, and I expect, to the generations to come.

I urge you to consider attending this year’s PK event. If you are a Christian man, please invite a family member, a neighbor, and a work colleague. If you are a Christian woman, please urge men in your life to attend - and pray for us. If like me, you seek wisdom and encouragement, or if you are an individual with a lot of questions about God, please attend in the hope that He will reveal Himself to you.

HCC will be having “PK Sign-up Sundays” on June 18th and 25th. For more information on the 2006 PK event, please contact HCC PK Point Man, Mike Wise and also learn more about this year’s Columbus event at http://www.promisekeepers.org/columbus06.

Thank you,

David S. Hess

Promise Keepers Update

On the Promise Keepers front, I recently had a conversation with a lady in our midst at Hudson Community Chapel. She said that one of our PK guys extended an invitation in Small Group a few weeks ago. "Hey, man - you're going," he said to the husband....She is praying fervently for her husband to go to PK for the first time this year. Additionally, she is praying for her husband to take her 23 year-old son. "That would be a miracle if both of them could go. I will keep praying for that."

Praise God! That is what PK is all about - The Invitation, and a praying wife. That's all the vast majority of unengaged guys need - someone to say, "Dude, you're going. I'll pick you up. Just be ready." If there's one thing I'm extremely confident in, it's that God will honor that strength in miraculous ways.

FYI, the 2006 event "UNLEASHED" looks Awesome! The CD will be available soon. The special concert will be on Saturday afternoon which is a good time for guys as Saturday afternoon is often 'information overload'. So a kick-butt concert will be just what the doctor ordered. I'd encourage guys to go down in front of the stage and let it all hang-out - great fun!

Bookmark the PK Blog. I've put a link on the right of the Home page. Should be a good way to keep the fire burning and stay posted on developments.

Remember - guys just need a good strong invitation. Christ is counting on YOU!

Welcome to the Hudson Chapel Men's Ministries Column

Introduction

It's time to go from a covert-op to high-profile. Hudson Chapel Men's Ministries has been alive and well, albeit low-profile. It's time to ENGAGE! This monthly column is an attempt to keep our men informed and involved. Did you know that HCC has about 1500 men as members or regular visitors? And yet only about 300 are actively serving. The Lord wants the other men engaged as well - there's a lot of kingdom work to do. "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Rom 10:15, Isaiah 52:7

Saturday Morning Bible Study

We just added a 5th table. Given that each table holds about 10 guys, I guess that means we are approaching 50 guys. Praise the LORD! Feel free to come anytime, if nothing else, just for the fellowship, coffee, and pastries. We meet in Fellowship Hall from 8-9am. Bob and Tom go deep or skim the surface. Guys either listen or comment and question. You'll never leave disappointed, that's for sure.

Promise Keepers 2006 - Save the Date

Be sure to hold open Friday evening July 14th and Saturday the 15th. We will be making a road-trip to Columbus and Promise Keepers 2006. Denny Whalen has set the goal at 300 HCC'ers. The theme is "UNLEASHED!". We have 1500 men in our midst who would be greatly blessed by the trip. So if you have been before, pray about inviting someone. If you've never been, ask your Dad, your son, your brother, or a buddy from work/church, or neighborhood to go with you. The enemy will try to thwart, but God will honor this effort. We will have a ticket sign-up date as we get closer. Buying as a group will allow for some free tickets which we will need. Like Tom Randall says, "Try to do something every year that you WILL fail at - without God's help!"
